Recycled Ideas for Packaged Food Containers

We live in a world where food is conveniently packaged into a range of containers for both liquid, and solid matter.  Our food is presented to us in packets, boxes, jars, tins, cellophane, plastic and paper.  Our packaged food can be frozen, heated, microwaved, shaken, squeezed, baked, sprinkled, poured, and finally, consumed.

"In some developing countries up to 50% of the food is wasted through poor packaging and distribution methods." SOURCE: Packaging What a Waste? KESAB.

A few ideas for ways to recycle our prepared food containers.

EARTH - One video you need to see

"Lets keep creating products using existing materials, reducing the need to use our worlds precious resources, and keep useable materials away from landfill" Recycled Market, 2011.

An inspirational video for all of us..

"Humanity; The most intelligent species on the planet, capable of anything, but is governed by it's aggression and youth. A species fast in developing, but slow in maturing.

Once a species that cared about its home, it's provider, let its ego dominate it's decisions. A period of ignorance and neglect has had profound effects accross the world. Effects which can be reversed, if nature is given the time to repair the damage.

Remember ... we only have one home"

Watercolour birds with recycled wings

We love to stumble upon artists (painters) using alternative materials in addition to their standard canvas and watercolour. We found Geninne, an artist living in Mexico. She creates such a magical, beautiful bird pictures using paint, but one piece grabbed our attention. Take a closer look, and you'll see these colourful winged creatures have wings of recycled-ness (map pages)....

Recycled Materials Come to Life!

We found an artist creating sculptured creatures from reclaimed tin. Will Wagenaar, has been a professional artist since 1972.

"In 1993 he opened a very experimental storefront on Miami Beach where he twisted all manner of found materials into new usable objects and fine art. A couple of years later the concept expanded to The Miami Design District. That larger workshop and gallery showcased over a dozen artist's work in reclamation art. Furnishings of all types, home accessories and fine art were displayed. Everything in the gallery was made of at least 80% recycled materials."
